Planetary Nebulae Observing GuidePlanetary Nebulae

Observing Guide

This is our newest manual and our newest "Observe Program"!

Planetary nebulae are quite remarkable in their variety and constitute some of the most beautiful , most interesting, and most colorful objects in the sky.  The purpose of this observing program is to introduce you to these wonderful objects.    The program was developed by the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers (BBAA) of southeastern Virginia.  The observing list contains only those objects that rise above the horizon at a latitude of approximately 37 degrees north.  Even with that limitation the list is observable from most of the continental United States.

The manual contains guidelines for certification, observing guidelines and techniques, explanations and definitions on many of the terms, the program lists, and sample log sheets.
